Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

CG: I read somewhere that ventilation is supposed to help. Just see if they drop by tmw and then decide what to do. I would love to see a little call egg in person. My mallard eggs are small though. I'll get a pic if she ever decides to lay again. (I'm thinking she has a nest somewhere in the yard... )

They are much smaller than a chicken egg.
if you ever want some calls let me know and we can work out a deal on eggs =)

and my one hens eggs are the size of pheasant eggs
now a couple of the other hens lay good sized eggs

and she prolly does , they r sneaky lil things.
kinda glad my girls are penned up.

It's bigger than my coturnix eggs, about the size of a call duck egg, but that's what I thought too. The only quail that live here are bobwhites though, and it doesn't look like a bobwhite egg I think.
well theres all different kinds of wild quail and pheasant
so who knows. guess youll find out if it hatches

That reminds me, I'm going to candle my duck eggs. Yes. MY ducks. :) Love hatching my own eggs!
me too! candling is one of the joys of incubating!

Some day for sure! Right now, I want nothing else that can fly over my house.

I've thought of taking my mallards to the farm, but I'm holding off because I'm attached to them.
