hehe....Are button's that similar to coturnix? I honestly know what they look like, that they can become broody and that they need more heat than Coturnix. That is pretty much all i know.

No, they arent overly similar, except they are quail. Can't keep males w/ other males. They like breeding pairs, not trios. Don't like cage, need to be on the ground. Do become broody. They don't breed color true at all.

i highly doubt that one hatchess lol.
but who knows. it also has the smalled air cell.
fingers crossed that i have a great hatch.
im getting very anxious.

of and i also have 2 broody hens i need to put eggs under hahah .
which means i will have 4 hens doing my dirty work for me. =)
cleaned out the duck pen (took me close to 2 hours)
and put fresh shavings in there instead of straw.
i hope it dont make them stope laying.
i got 3 eggs this morning. which is a record i usualyy get 1 in the am 1 around noon and if i get 3 one later on in the day .
maybe today wil be the day i get 4 (doubtful lol)

cleaned out the brooder. and put shavings in it. they are cheaper than the pellets. and they wee going thru pellets like crazy (40lb bag in 2 weeks)
they werent making them wet it was all their poop. i really dont have a water problem with them now that i switched to a bowl with a hole in the lid.
i give it another week and ill have to keep the babies in the barn or something. they are gettin too big for the porch brooder, and really dont need their light right now (its staying in the 60's at night. and they have only been using a regular bulb anyways,


its funny how they are getting their feather in. the geese are getting them in on the top of their butt first. right above their tails.

My seb eggs have the tiniest air cells, but its casue they are so fresh. I'm hoping you get a nice hatch too.

lol. well thats my entire update for today, so far.

and yees it was a cleaning day lol
its nice out today .. 70 degrees.
the babies have been out since 11ish (its now almost 1:30)\they r loving it.

oh and i now once again have 2 dozen eggs sitting on the dresser.
14 will go under chickens here in a lil while tho

Great news the little duckling that was rejected got accepted by mama this morning and the little duckling has 8 other hatching's to keep him company and more still hatching! I'm so glad mama Scobie came to her senses I was worried about this first time mama! I saw some Lavender and blues in this clutch I'm excited so see more once they are all hatched! yay! what a lucky St. Patty's Day!






(The "reject duckling" is saying hi to his mama for the first time, he is by her bill)

CG: sounds like you got a lot done! I'm pretty sure I have a broody RIR, but I don't trust her. She's flighty. I don't think they make good mama's. Anybody have thoughts on that?

Fiona isn't getting any signs of feathers yet. And I'm so excited for her to get them. I let her out with me to feed the chickens and she was following me EVERYWHERE. My neighbor got a kick out of that. She said, "That duck thinks your mama!" (Yes, I was laughing.) My neighbor is 70+ so she loves the 2 eggs I gave her yesterday.
