If it makes you feel any better these 4 ducklings are not hatching all together and like popcorn like the others. The one that pipped a few days ago finished zipping and is ready to come out. Another has zipped about an inch, the other 2 have internal pipped only. They all sound and look good though, so I'm expecting 4 ducklings by tomorrow.
My roo has started crowing. He sounds pathetic, like someone trying to make rooster noises with a kazoo. I let everyone out, and he is upset that his duck buddies ditched him to find water to play in.I told him to go talk to the silkies if he wanted company.![]()
CG, I feel ya. Try to take short naps. Set alarm for every 30-45 min. That's what I did with my gosling hatch.
i cant sleep .
ive tried.
i slept from ike 11:30 until 2:30.
and then from 5 am- 8
but other than that i can not sleep .
i will collapse later when i know the twins are safe
both now have heads free.
and are working on pushing out of their shell.
oh poop i fogot to see how much yolk they had left.
oh well i know they can do the rest on their own hopefully.
they both look grey. i can see eyestripes. but maybe they are just magpie with weird markings.
they are soo adorable.
i love them..
this is the home stretch . thought wed never get here.
How cute! Now that they are out just keep the membrane moist so they don't get stuck and let them sit in there until they are ready. It took one of mine almost 2 days to absorb her yolk and kick the shell off. It's so much easier to wait during this part since you can see and talk to them though.
the one on the left is trying to kick free. i
will give them 2 hours and moisten membrane again and give my save-a-chick.
and as far as you little big calls . lol if they are getting feathers they are ok to be outside.
and they are prolly showing the big ducks whose boss. calls are sassy and dont take no crap .
They are mostly feathered in except for a little fluff here and there. I need to find another kiddie pool. I don't think bossy little magpie is going to let the big ducks share her pool.
