Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

If I set the eggs after 4:00, I do not count that day ,the next day would be day.
Chickens (hatch bantams only) hatch time is 21 days.
Ducks hatch 28 days
Geese 28 to 32 days,
Ok, I was thinking maybe you had the length of time wrong. I would run the humidity lower until lock down if it were me. I try to run all of ours under 30% to allow enough moisture loss and prevent sticky hatchlings or drowning in the shell. If they aren't due until next week then something is very off. I know shipped eggs in the summer will start developing in transit cause a day or two difference. However a weeks difference you would see the growth when you candle them upon arrival.

the dark call duckling is a boy.

I will try to get on here after work tonight to give updates. Hopefully everyone is doing well. My computer has been buggy so I havent been on for a while.

both r boys.
i think i will email that lady with the little boy. and offer them to her.
there will be other hatches to keep babies from

Babies all lived after spending the night with everyone, so they are officially on their own. I had to herd them to the coop at night, they tried sleeping under our boat. All the hatchling fridge babies are in the brooder, will get pics later.

It's a Golden Retriver/German Shepherd mix. I was told half and half. She's purty and all, but ugh! Drives me nuts because she waits till I turn my back. I don't know what to do about her, since I've already taught her that they're "mine".

Could you teach her to retrieve the ducks for you on command? Then once she can do that teach her drop it.

18 and 19 free at last !!!

Where do you measure the temp? My thermometer at the top of the eggs measures 100, above the eggs 102-103, at the bottom of the incubator 97, and mine have been hatching a day early. The temp is supposed to be 101 at the top of the egg.

Yay for more babies!

First 2 to hatch this morning are in the ducky shipping box inside the brooder.... had to do something with the "bull in the china shop" attitude... It's so cute the blue girls from Julie keep trying to get to them
cool.png
one more hatched in the bator.... he/she is a bit more tired and not knocking the last one around.

Sheesh...my geese stayed over here until after dusk last night... and now it is 7am, barely daybreak... and they are already back in my driveway making sure the whole neighborhood knows they are there!
But they want the babies, no confidence in you how rude of them!!!!

Duckie lock down!!!

No problem. It should climb quickly today to the 50s and I will try to take them outside then. They are not feathered out at all, but they do not need heat lamp anymore. However, I have not allowed brooder room to drop below 60s. This will be their first exposure to 50s.

Today is ducky lockdown!!!! I just placed the wet paper towels in there to get humidity over 70%, gave the air cells a quick candle on eggs that had not pipped yesterday.... and I'm officially hands off (except to hopefully quickly move cayuga eggs over).
