It says their natural diet is earthworms, so I want to feed him mostly those. Mealworms are a lot of fat and not very healthy for most lizards except as treats, although I want to start raising those for quail treats. My kiddie pool with a hole got filled with peat moss for the chickens to play in, and hubby threw a ton of nightcrawlers in there he'd caught when he didn't end up going fishing. I need to go check on them, they are in a nice shady spot. If there are still some in there I'll cover it with newspaper, the chickens can find their own dirt bath spot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodcock I almost stepped on an egg laid in a four wheeler track. I picked it up so it wouldn't get ran over, couldn't find where it came from, so i took it home and threw it in the incubator.

Wow...don't think I've ever seen one of those before....very cool!

Oh forgot to tell you. The 4 appleyards that I didn't know which one was the boy... Well, the one I thought was questionable because she was born black quacked at me today. So Celtic was right, 3 girls-1 boy. What great odds!

oh, I forgot MO rules. Sorry. You should tell them they are, uh, bantems. Yep, bantems. OK, so you just make sure your little dude knows where the worm pile is, so you can send us lots of pics.

I think it's going to hatch and be a quail. And then we can name him Woody. Or cocky.

Maybe he'll come out and Julie will go, "wow, that is the biggest pecker I've ever seen. Why its bigger than even a chicken pecker." I've seen the pic, that bird has one longggg pecker.
