I just met the new neighbors that moved in across the street. He was standing at the gate with his kid looking at the chickens so I brought one up for him to pet. Neighbor said they love the chickens (yay, no one to complain about my roo still) and they want some. Hmm, I happen to have some chicks hatching in a few days...and have a couple of really cute ducklings too...think I found somewhere for some of my babies to go and I'll still get to see them grow up.

Then I won't be that weird chicken lady, we'll be that weird chicken street, lol. Especially since hubbies friends down the block just got a couple of chickens last week too.

Oh and Julie.. you made me feel better. Later that day, my 3 yr old was running around in her panties in the backyard. I can't keep clothes on her either. She just wants to be naked. And make me feel like Boogen.

Then I'm that crazy duck girl who doesn't clothe her children because she's too busy messing with those ducks. Ya know how people are.

And I'm sure they're not thinking that... but still.

Actually, I have more ducks than chickens, so probably should be the weird duck lady. The ducks just stay in the back yard, while the chickens and turkey hang out by the birdfeeder at the front gate or sit at the front door. And too funny about the 3 yr old. I don't feel so bad now. My 7 year old had no problem staying clothed, maybe it's a middle child thing.

Pip for it.  You will regret it if you don't.   Do you have an exacto knife/razor blade?  You can make an X with it and then use tweezers to get the shell started and it won't break the membrane this way.. if you're careful.  Since it's a delicate situation. 

Awesome!!!  Sometimes I feel like that weird chicken/duck lady.  People don't "get it".


 




But you pen them up at night right?  That's what's confusing me.

No, I dont. Their in a 2 acre pen. We have daddy dog protecting them.

started getting goose eggs first... while the chickens were molting.. too cold to breed the rabbits.... now the whole thing is out of control

QJ, excellent tip. I just checked SA egg. It has internally pipped, so since I will have to open hatcher to move SA over, I guess I will attempt to pip the other egg. But it is already fading fast. I really doubt I can help it at this point.
