Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Kevin: It's the first time I've noticed this. He kind of chases her around in the yard and then gets over it, but I didn't think this was going on at night in the coop.

This duck would try to mate with a wet mop right now.. I swear.

Sounds like a hypersexual drake. I would defiantly keep an eye out on him!

This is it. I'm done with pics now.. sorry. The baby duckies found the pool that is for decorative purposes.... Oh well. What do you do.

There were all 7 in there before I disrupted their world by (dare I say it) walking in their general direction..big babies.

And here's Fiona.

Can't really tell in the pic but she has a lot of feathers. They are underneath her down. This was yesterday when she found dandelions.

Should I get him more ladies? The one I WANT him to mate with he isn't really interested in. Is that weird? He likes the mallards and apparently one of the silver apples.

How many ladies does he have access to? This is actually quite common behavior for some drakes

2 Mallard ladies (That don't like him) and the 1 Ancona. So technically 3 total.
The mallards tend to want to stay with the mallard drake. But he doesn't really know what he's doing. Apparently neither does Ancona boy because I have 8 more eggs in the bator that aren't fertile. (eye roll)..

One of these days... as much practice as he gets.. lol.

LOL! Hmm that sounds like a fine ratio. How old is he? He may tame down depending upon his age

Wish my drakes would get their job done! At least I don't have to worry about the problem we have at work. We get to deal with several muscovy drakes that want chickens as girlfriends.
