Sorry to hear the news, Celtic. Hope the specialist can help your husband get better.
Oh my gosh - that's funny. When I first starting getting into Serama chickens about a year ago, I couldn't believe the drama! I wanted to butt in and say, "Uh, guys, you do realize that all this nasty fighting and name calling is over CHICKENS, right?!?" That's why I really like this thread. It's my fav on BYC.My Rant for the day:
The chicken side of BYC. gets butt hurt WAY too easily. I correct one BYC expert for misleading information and I have like 3 other people start blabbering because they still thought they were right. Well Guess what? I was still right when they looked it up. I guess us duck people are nearly as stupid as they seem to think we are![]()

I haven't been on here in awhile, though. This week I found out my Pointer has cancer - hemangiosarcoma. I am devasted. This dog has been with me through thick and thin for over 12 years. He has been both the best and the worst dog EVER! He makes the infamous Marley look like an angel, but his charming personality makes up for all the chaos he leaves in his wake. I am having a hard time imagining my life without him in it. I lost my Lab less than a year ago to cancer, too. This is the hardest part of having pets.
Celtic - I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I hope the specialists can figure out what's going on.
I'm considering posting an ad begging for sources of semi-local hatching eggs. From now on, I'm driving to pick up my eggs.
Hubby and I are sitting here wallowing in shipped egg misery. I swear there's someone at our local post office who gets off on shaking the heck out of hatching eggs. I've got several people on my waiting list who have been waiting over three weeks because of the hatch rate I'm getting. Thank you so much, post office.
Anybody have some good hook-ups on hatching eggs (duck and Marans chicken) in Western WA? Will drive a reasonable distance.
Next time I get a hankering for exotic watefowl, I'll just suck it up and make the two day trip to Holderreads.
I so felt like saying that too! There's is STILL someone who keeps posting to try to prove me wrong. You know what dude I have nothing to prove to the "Chicken Folk" so if your that desperate go for it.

I always view Geese as Crazy Loving Old People. They're always so sweet and seem to want to help every single baby.
I found this labeled as a "Goose":

Sorry to hear that.Hope they find the source and she does ok with post op.
Hubby isn't well at all. Spent half of yesterday with doctors. Looks like it will be just me and boys here very soon. He has to be seen by specialists we just don't have here. I can't even travel with him since the kids don't have anyone else to stay with them. So will be hoping the transfer to a new hospital will bring answers and maybe a fix. Answers is all we are hopeful for. Talking major neurological disorders now among other things.
So we are rushing to get as much done as we can while he is here. Our almost 14 year old is very handy, can run a fence and build a pen as well as hubby and I can. He also knows the turn out system and feeding system so is a huge help both with the animals and his little brother too.
Looking for someone local right now who can help with some of the goose and duck house building we need to finish. I hate the thought of paying someone since everyone seems to be charging triple for "poultry" buildings right now. Lots of counties and towns here are going pro chicken ect, so lots of people trying to make a buck selling buildings.
Congrats on the babies!Just returned from the vet office. The injury on the one girl's face had me worried and for good reason. Vet gassed her to drain a sample from swelling and found mucus, plus could see blood getting into nose and a bit into the eye socket. She is staying there overnight and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.
On the bright side, she is otherwise very healthy, in good flesh, and vet thinks they will be able to fix her up tomorrow. All three babies (I figured why not take all three for a once over) were perfect dolls. Love them!
Quackers, sorry to hear about your silkie duck on the farm!
Eyeheart, hope you and your daughter feel better soon!
Sue:Did Fred her babies yet?![]()
