got them yesterday and they have been resting upright.

Dutch, sorry, but yes that's an African. A very nice looking one at that. I know though it isn't what you paid for, or wanted.
Yep...a Super African Dewlap

She is a sweetie, but definitely more of a handful than the Dewlaps. Carole is making it right....sending me a grey girl, and a male African next Tuesday. What am I going to do with Super Africans???

I guess I'll change her name to Superwoman, and name him Superman, lol.

Ok...I've had pretty good luck stabilizing air cells this year. Set them pointy side down in an egg carton, and let them rest for 3 or 4 days. Don't turn them or touch them. Then, put them pointy side down in the incubator in a turner and don't turn them for another 3 or 4 days. Then turn on the turner and leave them be until you candle on day 7th or so. Now I've done this with chicken eggs, with great success. I haven't done it with duck eggs, so I'm not sure if you should lay them down at that point, or not. I incubate and hatch my chicken eggs upright. I do know that once the embryo has started developing and veining, that, in itself, helps stabilize the air cell. If the cell moves to the center of the egg to begin with, don't waste time setting it....those are too bad to set. I only try to stabilize cells that aren't totally detached.

ETA: there is a sticky on here someone that explains this method. That's where I got it, and it does work.

I would set them upright until they stabilize. Position them on edge of bator so one side is facing heat element and then rotate them 180 degrees, instead of turning them.

Dutch, I'm not sure whether to say bummer or congrats about getting a pair of super africans. Personally, I love my super african goose as much as my dewlaps. And it's not like you don't have the acreage for another pair.

Thanks, he is so darn nerve too! Marches through the adult geese like they are nothing. Tells our son all about how upset he is with what ever he is being asked to do. I had to laugh tonight when I found him following along while three others were carried in. The entire time complaining as if he if was begging to play longer.

I'd put them in upright, and don't turn for 24 after setting them. I turn very very gently, staying tipped but not on sides, for the first week for sure. I've still gotten some hatches this way, so I'd do it like that again.
