My button quail are outlaying my courturnix now. Want some eggs?

How was yer hatch rate?

Well, I bought her eggs in a "Take a Chance" auction. Some of the eggs were up to 3 weeks old if I remember right. I think I bought 24 eggs and 5 were broken when they arrived. Out of the 19 eggs that were incubated, 8 hatched. So, all things considered, I was pretty happy. I wasn't sure what to expect with older, shipped eggs. Iain Utah bought the same eggs and none of hers hatched.

Hey, you all want to help me make a final decision? I'm taking opinions on house colors. Here are my scheme choices.
Tell me which paint scheme you each like best....

Trying to decide on my house. Remember, on it, the wing to the Right is copied on the Left also, where here its not. Mine has two wings, this place only one. This one is very close to what my house looks like though.

I like A, B and C, but have you looked into what colors are historically correct for the time your house was built? I know there's a list of colors out there, but I can't remember where I saw it. I'm sure Google would pull up some info on that.

Hey Marty! I haven't been on here to much, busy farm time season!
Yes, we're all busy. I've got my last batch of 47 Khakis hatched out now (from under 7 willing hens of my moms) and I have to go pick them up now. Her price, two dressed ducks. I feel bad for the hens. All that work, and nothing but a toss back into the hen house.

We're also working on the house. We got in 500 feet of replacement exterior wood, so between moving my Dads stuff by this weekend, and getting that primed and up, we're are just moving it. Got to get that fence up. Maybe next week....

Hey for 3 week old eggs..... That is a great hatch rate ~ especially if they were scrambled upon arrival with cracked eggs.

I just bought 10 dozen Pekin eggs, shipped & packaged great in the boxes, and one arrived completely intact

, and the other was mangled & stinky & crap

So I had to wash ALL the eggs in one of the boxes & smelled FOWL rotten

~ and the other I put in just fine ALL intact.

I currently have 76 eggs going into LD today out of the 90ish eggs that made it thru transit intact (I bought the 120 w/ 60 in each box) So the one that was mangled I knew I would not get many to hatch after losing a dozens that were cracked, & the others not cracked coated with rotten egg, and then being washed.....

So the guy refunded me total cost for one of the boxes, which was really nice of him.

I have 11 more coturnix starting to hatch sometime today. 1 has already started zipping (at the wrong end) and all but 3 or 4 have pipped from what i can tell. Yay!
