My turkey is gone

. However he did find a excellent new home. He's now part of a elderly couple's pet turkey flock where he will be allowed to free range during the day and be in a secure pen a night. Plus now he won't be attacked by any of my mean geese. I'll still miss him though but it's nice to know he'll be going to a great home.

Wow when you said your Turkeys was gone I really thought someone had taken him, glad he has a good home where he'll have other turkey friends.

Thankfully no one bothered him while he was here. However, some more stuff was moved around earlier this week so I'll be stepping up security. I'm just glad he'll get to be with his kind again. He really hasn't been the same since his friend died.

Thanks Julie

. I'm just glad he won't be picked on anymore. Plus I hated having to clip his wings because he enjoyed flying so much. Now he'll be free to fly around as much as his heart desires

Mine are starting to fly out every now and then too. Even though they have an acre they are allowed to range daily. I've had to clip their wings, and they are only let out each evening instead of the whole day now.

They defiantly have the good life with you Julie! I still can't believe how agile they are for their size! I swear they could give mallards a run for their money

Okay obvoiusly you missread my post...I asked if there was such a thing as too much humidity AT lockdown (I have been reading this thread and many others.... I know what lockdown is. I was trying to find out if I could have too much humidity at lockdown.) I did get it down and (74 to 78 is where its sitting now) I have pips on allxmh duck eggs but one is on the wrong end... I think these guys are gonna drive me batty!

Yes there is such a thing as lockdown.  It is usually done the last 3 days before expected hatch time.  I think 88% is maybe a little high for lockdown (boy, I sure don't have to type that very often!)  I try to stay between 70-80% if I can.  75% is Ideal.

That said, lockdown for chickens is day 18.  Lockdown for quial is day 14.  Lockdown for turkeys is day 25 (and usually ducks too), but with waterfowl, especially geese, you've really got to watch the egg, candle at night, and put into lockdown when it pips internally.  (You'll see a little pointy shadow moving around)  If you candle every evening when your turning or checking your eggs, you'll realize that there is somthing else in the spot where there is usually no shadow.  (you can search for pics, there are many posted on this sight back in March - June especially, or search the thread)  Thats when you move waterfowl to lockdown.

Good Luck!

It's sounds like he has a great new home, Kev. I can't believe you're still having problems with stuff being moved around! Is that all it is? Nothing's being taken? So weird.

Thanks Christine! I've seen a few candy wrappers near the pen on occasion but nothing big. With the exception of one PVC pipe I was using for a roost nothing else has been taken to the best of my knowledge.
