Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Yeah, I caught my temp running high a few days ago, like 102. Was probably like that for 24 hours.
No, I cut a corner off the bag and slid her head out so she can breathe. Here's a picture of the little bugger:

I just checked her and she's almost got it all the way absorbed now. Not long till I can let her out of the bag, which is good because she is LOUD. She wants out.
How precious

good job.

She's out! She was getting really restless and kicking hard at the bottom of her egg so I gave in and pulled her out a ways to check and she's all good. She just has a tiny little piece of umbilical chord stuck that should be gone in a day. Here's the little one all bundled up in the incubator:

Hi everybody!

Who else is working on cutting down their flocks for winter? I sold four drakes about a month ago. The first email I received afterwards was all wonderful, the kids love them, they're so quiet, etc. The second email was the please-can-i-bring-these-noisy-stinky-beasts-that-the-kids-won"t-take-care-of-back?

No refunds, but drakes get asylum until I can find another new home for them.

Five ducklings moved along today. Seven more left including the one with the blind eye. Still having to treat it several times a day for goop. The infection is gone, but it looks like the tear duct will never be right.

What's everyone up to?

I'm increasing my flock before winter! I just built a new, huge duck house and well, might as well fill it, right? I sexed little miss impatient and without a magnifying glass, I didn't see a penis. Did it a couple times to be sure, but I'll double check with a magnifying glass tomorrow. If she still seems to be a she tomorrow, she's staying ;)

Ok, I have a hatching question! One of the eggs in my bator looked weird, like there might have been seepage from the egg, so I decided to take it out to look at it and when I did it exploded

. Mostly the goo got me the incubator and the wall and a little on one of the other eggs. So my question is did this ruin the rest of the eggs? I know my room probably will never smell right again! I sanitized the bator and wiped the goo off the other egg.

We love hatch day.

I sold 22 Khaki Campbells to a lady who want to make those weird duck egg things. Oh well, at least I don't have to feed them now. I'm going to cut back a bit more, but only those extra males for freezor village.

Gross! how far are you from hatch day? I think wiping it all off is about all you can do, I hope they still hatch.

I've got mine to where I want for winter. I have 2 geese, 4 ducks, 2 drakes, 2 turkeys, and 7 chickens is it. The turkeys are walking a thin line between going and staying at the moment. I do have some ducks and chickens hatching that I'll be keeping too though. And a pair of pigeons inside waiting for me to get their pen done.
