Ok, I have a hatching question!  One of the eggs in my bator looked weird, like there might have been seepage from the egg, so I decided to take it out to look at it and when I did it exploded  .  Mostly the goo got me the incubator and the wall and a little on one of the other eggs.  So my question is did this ruin the rest of the eggs?  I know my room probably will never smell right again!  I sanitized the bator and wiped the goo off the other egg.

I had an egg blow up under my broody and I never even knew it till hatch day, so I never got to clean the eggs off. All still hatched fine, and I have a momma with four silkie chicks to prove it

I hope so

. They were not even to day 7 in the bator. But since I opened the bator I checked the rest of the eggs and most looked like they were developing.

Course, she's still just a baby, so sometimes she gets so tired she just falls over and sleeps.

Eww. So sorry that you had an exploder. If you cleaned the eggs off, you should be okay.

I sold 22 Khaki Campbells to a lady who want to make those weird duck egg things. Oh well, at least I don't have to feed them now. I'm going to cut back a bit more, but only those extra males for freezor village.

It's a relief when you manage to cut down a bit this time of year, isn't it? I should have 8 leaving this weekend.

Something had been smelling a little funky near the incubator, so today when I opened it to take out a dried off duckling, I checked all the eggs, and sure enough, one absolutely reeked So I tossed it. Yuck, yuck, yuck. So, I have six hatched and seven to go. And, here's something interesting: I've been sexing them, and so far, their genders all correspond to their beak color.

Anyway, here's the little impatient duck today:

I'd love some name suggestions for her! I'd especially love names that go along with the heart on her beak, or any fall-themed names. Around here, Pumpkin, Apple, and Cider are already taken so those are out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

She's adorable. Acorn? Butternut? I'm tired and can't think of names right now, lol.

Brooder is getting full of call duck cuties. These are all todays hatch except the one in the front in the middle. That is Button, the first to hatch this fall for me. She's 10 days old, but about the same size as the new babies. Her belly button didn't close after hatching, and is still pretty big but she's acting great still so I'm pulling for her. There's also a few stragglers in the incubator that'll be following, and momma is STILL laying. She just won't quit! Getting too cold to hatch more, so I'm going to be eating the eggs now I think. I do, after all, have another dozen recently set too.
