the babies are still in the nest and on camera looking for mom. this is terrible and sad.

I just saw this when I logged on to see how big they were getting. How tragic!! Kinda feels like I lost one of my own birds after watching them for so long. I sure hope the father is able to step up and take care of them!!

me too. we do have some thunderstorms coming through tonight so he may tend to the nest. if not officials may have to take them to safety. the zoo in close by and busch gardens also has an eagle exhibit about 45 minutes away.

Dad has not been to the nest all day. Babies got wet earlier when it rained with no parent to shield them. It's pretty common for dad to abandon the family if mom dies because he can't do it alone. I hope they take the chicks and finish raising them. Poor things......

Hopefully they will raise the eaglets if the male does not return.
She lives on in them and all of the others she successfully raised over the years...

How sad! For a minute I thought y'all were talking about the Decorah eagles, they're on camera this year, too, and I have been watching them grow up. What a loss

I am so hoping and praying that the dad comes back. I really hate to see an animal suffer and I know that they won't let them starve to death but it's still tough to watch them and they are so young and probably don't even know their momma is gone!!
