Throat injury!!! Urgent!!!

Just a thought about the wound. How big is it? If it is to big to stay closed on its own, you can close wounds with super glue. Believe it or not it was developed as a field wound treatment in the U.S. Army. I have never used it on a chicken, but I have used it on me and other animals. I can imagine that the feathers may cause an interesting issue.

Good luck.

I have never heard of a crow attacking a chicken we have them here also I am aways happy to see them harassing the hawks. I'll be keeping a closer eye on my bantams from now on. Glad she seems better. Maybe you could trim the muff

I had a torn up roo after a horrid fight. As many injuries and as much blood as there was I was sure he was done for. Gasping for air and his whole chest covered in blood, several rips to the throat area, eyes so bloodied they swelled shut. I gave the poor thing some warm sugar water and set him off to the side. A little bit later I gave him baby food veggies. ( stuff is horrid but he ate it) A few hours later he was ready to challenge the other stupid rooster again. I hope your gal recovers that quickly too.

She ate and drank more and the cut seems to sealing itself for the most part.

*Whew*

I still can't get over the crow attack but, we saw it plain as day!!!

Another one for the list!

The following is from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: "American Crows are very social, sometimes forming flocks in the millions. Inquisitive and sometimes mischievous, crows are good learners and problem-solvers, often raiding garbage cans and picking over discarded food containers. They’re also aggressive and often chase away larger birds including hawks, owls and herons."

Pretty impressive for their size.

Was watching a documentry on crows last night, They are able to use tools and make tools. In some ways they have more advanced skills in this area than many primates. They are able to recognize faces and comunicate the description of a face to others in a flock who can then remember a face for up to 2 years. Pretty amazing. Still don't like them beating up on chickens.

She seems to be feeling a lot better now and everything seems to be healing just fine but her beak seems to be just a little bit off.

It's kinda crooked now, not bad, it's possible it was there before and I just haven't noticed until now.

The crows, they have been here as long as I can remember and they've never hurt the chickens.
I have no idea why this one did either, middle of the day and no other crows in sight plus, she is a pretty big chicken!!
