Time to RIP off the band-aid!

one will be 3 in November and the other ones are 18 months.. breeder had them in a bedroom after the whelping box.. they are min pins which are famous for being HARD to house break totally.. i have them trained right now to go outside and in a pinch to use the pee pad what is in a plastic box.

when they are outside they are supervised 100%..

what we dis before (yesterday)...
first thing in the morning we let them out of the crate (never accidents in crate)
feed.. they get fed again at 4 always have access to water

we then watch to see if we can see the signs pacing prancing ect... if we see it then they get let out... the hard part is sometimes we dont see it and they run to the box

when we are out or in bed they are crated.

NOW what we are doing is:
let them out this morning.. every one did 1 & 2 they can in and got a treat

one hour later they were out again all but 1 peed again... we have closed off the back hall where the pee pad was so we can watch them closer.

if they are not in the one pee pad free room they are either outside or in their crate. When I go to do laundry and no one else is here to watch them they will have to be crated. when I go into the kitchen to make dinner they will be crated ect... what used to happen was they did their own thing when I was running up and down stairs with laundry or while makin dinner... but that will have to stop till there is no more pee pad.

don't use bleach to clean!! bleach contains ammonia which will actually lead them to pee in that spot. Use Nature's Miracle or something similar

Natures miracle is a pos imho. So far so good there has been no "accidents" today. The surface that was bleached is a non porous I wanted to disinfect.

The pee pad was never directly on the floor. It was ALWAYS in a rubbermaid type container. A shallow one that would slice under a bed. We placed it in there cause these dogs walk and pee and poo so with the raised sides it kept them in so there was not "stuff' trailed all over.

In order to house train, you really should be letting them out on a consistent schedule AND when they show signs of needing to go.

As soon as they wake up in the morning - outside to potty
As soon as they are done with breakfast - outside to potty
As soon as they are done with any play session - outside to potty
As soon as they ask for it - outside to potty
As soon as they are done with dinner - outside to potty
Right before bed - outside to potty

oh trust me we are and noting when we do it so that there is not 20 minutes inbetween and then a gap for like 4 hours...

so far so good today no accidents...

its not like they are NOT trained.. they are trained.. BUT I want to modify the training... they wont pee in the living room they are not allowed upstairs so thats not an isse.. they always look for the box if they are not outside... now its time to break the box.
