Nursing is going to be an experience, even if I don't see/help with/do this therapy stuff and debridement.
I can't wait!
Props!!! As soon as some cranky bugger treated me the way I see some treated, and then expect help? I’m afraid I’d help, but not be remotely nice about it.

First thing I do in a hospital is get the nurses laughing.

That's actually why we tried maggots. I am quite experienced in debridement.

Little piece of advice - don't ever trust the surgeons with debridement. They just like to cut. Trust a wound care team first. Being awake for it isn't nearly as bad as you would think. Promise.
Are you a nurse?
(I'm starting to compile a list of nurses, retired nurses, or nurses-to-be who I might be able to ask for advice when I'm doing the courses in college.)

So y'all can understand us
Only issue is that we are constantly evolving.

No thanks.

Whoa.
Did you know that clean maggots can be used to clean out wounds as a way of getting rid of dead tissue?
Ew.
But also fascinating.

Yep, I knew that.

Smart to humanize those who will be in charge of your body.

Learned that one from my grandpa. I believe he put it ‘Son, never get anyone pissed at you that might have to poke you with a needle or change your bed pan. If they’re laughing, they care.’

My Mom (lived to be 97) spent the last 3 years of her life in an assisted care facility. She once told me, "The people here are so nice to me." I replied, "That's because you are not a pain in the arse. You are a pleasant change from most of what they have to deal with."
