Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Hello all how long before I help with these external pips that haven’t made progress. After what happened with my one baby I’m very afraid to leave them for too long. They pipped at 6 am, it’s 1 pm now. A little silkie hatched and is ramming into all the eggs so it’s hard to keep track but they haven’t made progress since this morning

You still have plenty of time. On my most recent hatch of 10 chicks my first chick hatched in the morning right around 10:30am and the last couple chicks hatched in the middle of the night while I was sleeping.

Day 13 for these Showgirl/Silkie eggs. 9/12 developing. One is about to quit. The aircell is still unattached/rolling, huge, and seems to be impeding proper embryo growth. It hasn't quit yet but I feel it's inevitable. I did not take pictures of this egg.

Here's a few pics of the healthy eggs. Two with good cells and one saddled.

These 3 are looking great! You never know, I had weak development in one of my Salmon Faverolle eggs that I noticed a detached chalazae before setting. The chick actually hatched without issue and was perfectly healthy!

I hear you. We're almost out of creamer for our coffee and I think I'm going to make a trip out to my friend's farm to buy some goats milk for the coffee rather than trying to fight the frantic crowds at the grocery stores right now. If not, I'll just drink it black until things start to normalize a bit.
I wouldn't be too put off. I've been to the store as recently as yesterday (twice!). I got almost everything on my list both times. Lines were orderly and pretty short.

This will obviously depend on your area but I feel the initial wave of panic buying has passed.

Well...this was our local Sam's Club yesterday right before the store opened. The line wrapped around the back of the store. I didn't take the picture, my friend did.
Unfortunately where we live it seems to be a moderate issue about an hour from us so everyone here is still prepping as they close down and cut back on more businesses and the schools were all officially closed as of today so I'm sure it's still crazy. I think it will be ok by the end of the week...hopefully.

Urgh I really don’t want to leave them overnight...I’m just so worried after what happened to the other little one. I also don’t want them to bleed out if I slip up. I don’t know, I think 3 are pipped. 2 for sure one I can’t really see but I think it is. All pipped around the same time

Well at the very least I would wait until tonight for the chicks that are already pipped. I think you will find that they hatch ok on their own. I know it's really hard but it's important to give them the time they need. Once I'm down to the last stragglers is the only time I start to feel concerned about time frame.
Things to looks for once they're ready to hatch and possibly need assisting would be repeatedly pecking at the same spot and peeping loudly but not making progress. When you see a pip and chick is quietly waiting or making a chewing motion this is usually a sign that they're still working on absorbing their yolk sac and blood.

So... the Birchen Marans has hatched, the second has expanded its pip, as has one of the CL pips. Three CLs have hatched and all three are males :barnie

How dare they all be boys!!! Ooooh I should have been setting eggs by the moon, lol! That's the hardest part about setting autosexing breeds, the excitement and/or disappointment of too many males is instant. lol
