Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Eeeeeeeeee. Sulmtaler!!!!!! I’ve emailed greenfire a couple times this year about Sulmtaler availability and thankfully for my pocketbook they haven’t gotten back to me.

I really only have an interest in the Liege Fighters. I don’t remember how many of the 3-4 Sulmtaler eggs are developing. Not quite enough to make you a chick box of just those, what else would you like?

Alright, I'm back after the week from hell (let's just say I now know more about unclogging the sewer line than I ever wanted to...), and am 4 days from hatch with my Silkie and Ayam Cemani! I have 7 AC and 9 Silkie still going strong. Yaaaay!

I do need some help though - I just picked some shipped eggs up at the post office, and although they were packaged beautifully, my air cells are a complete mess. They have already sat for 24 hours at the post office, but should I give them more time? Should I not use my auto turner? Incubate upright? Help!

I personally prefer letting them sit outside the bator and immediately begin turning. Scholarly articles all say the first 3-4 days of turning is the most important. I’d let them site one more day at home where you know they are settled and not moved.

Everyone handles shipped eggs a little differently. I only allowed my shipped eggs for rest for 6ish hours even though I had terrible air cells (but they were delivered to my door not resting at the post office) and then I put them directly into the horizontal turner. I had a lot of scrambled eggs that didn't develop but they wouldn't have developed regardless of resting or turning and I only had one actual quitter. Ended up with an 88% hatch rate.
