Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

5/7 olive egger backcrosses have hatched. A sixth egg has pipped but not zipped. The seventh appears to be a dud.

My husband wants me to assist the sixth egg but that's not something I normally do

Looks like I have two wheaten, two blue (maybe one black?) and my first ever splash! Figures it would be a mix and not a pure ameraucana.

I need to make a correction there is 8 on D15 and 3 that has not pipped on D22. I am Excited that 16 hatched, only 3 clear, 3 still waiting on pip out of 22 set that is around 72% if I am right not including the 8 that where set on 3/07.
What affect will the humidity (82%) be on the 8 that where on D14 when the others hatched.
You'll know when you check their aircells. But a few days of high humidity shouldn't matter that much if it was ok the rest of the time (which I'll infer it was because you had such a great hatch!).

Did the humidity just spike to 82% while the chicks were hatching? Because that's normal and shouldn't cause any issues when it's short periods. Most hatching happens over a day or two so just allow the humidity to come back down after the chicks are done hatching and wait until the other eggs are on day 20 (or your see an external pip) to increase it again.

Everyone meet Milagro!

She did most of the work herself, and seems strong. View attachment 2058816
Looks like her umbilical cord is still attached, but I'm not going to mess with it? Letting her fluff up a bit and then I will move her to a brooder. Hoping I can sneak her under mama tonight.

:celebrate :wee:ya
Yay yay yay!!!! This is the little baby you helped right?! :woot
The little white blob thing that's on her just looks like egg waste. The super thin cord looks dry and doesn't have any blood left in it so would be safe to snip if you want, it will otherwise fall off on it's own soon.

Yes this is the baby that I helped! I will check on her again in a couple hours and make a decision about the cord. She is alone right now so I'm not worried about anybody picking at it or anything. She is so precious! My lil baby. Hopefully she's a girl!

Help I need another incubator, I have 12 eggs from my girls and 10 shipped eggs that need to go into the incubator. I miscalculated on the days, I thought this hatch would be finished before the shipped eggs would arrive. I will be getting another NR360 next week, will the eggs be alright until then
They should be...I have collected and hatched 3 week old eggs with no issues.
