My other half and I are not in agreement on this....

We have a rooster that grew up with the hens, should have been a hen but you know how that goes.

He has started to mate with some of the girls.

I collect eggs several times a day. If the egg has been fertilized can we still consume them?

I say yes, as they don't start to develop until they are sat on or incubated. the egg itself just contains a few more DNA than before.

Am I right or wrong?

Fertilized does nothing to the Egg except add the rooster's DNA. Unless you know what to look for, you would not see the VERY slight change, a white circle around the tiny white Dot of female DNA. There is No change in taste, No change to consistency, No change to the Yolks Color. Nothing changes unless the Egg gets Incubated at 100+ degrees. Not likely going to happen on the counter or in the refer...Since people domesticated the Chicken, they have had Hens and Roosters. Eating Fertilized Eggs is Thousands of years old. The Rumor that you should not eat Fertilized Eggs, likely came from Big Egg Producers that want you to buy Grocery Store Eggs that are never fertile...JJ
