Does anyone know what lines Greenfire is using?

My ones from Jim Parker are not quite right- I have the gold lace split roo (out of Green Acre Tolbunt hens) over them hoping that will improve their offsprings color, hoping to keep thing not too related. Plus have a split GL roo (hatchmate to roo over Parker line) over it's hatchmate sisters to pull the Tolbunt colored babies.from to use.

Also have a batch from Illia's Tolbunt roos (Green Acres again) over many colors of hens, to see wo hatches out that could work in the Tolbunt project.
And a batch from Dancing Hen (Bare Necessities roo, over 2 Creekside & 1 Parker Tolbunt hens + a GL hen) to help with new blood.
Those 2 are in the bator- so not counting those for sure yet...... and eggs from my 2 pens are in the bator too.

Want to do this right..... just hard to get new lines...... gonna be a lot of growing and culling....

I hatched some eggs from Jim Parker and I thought most of them were not quite right as well. I got rid of all but one hen who had a nice polish look to her, but I plan to remove her from my tolbunt flock as well in the next few months as I grow out chicks and trade out breeders. My best tolbunt is definately the rooster I got from Gretchen Bare. He is big and beautiful. not perfect ....but no tolbunt is yet as far as I can tell. My best chicks so far this spring has come from him and my gold laced hen, so I am excited to put their split offspring back into the breeding program when they grow up. I think, for me, the best strategy is to put my best tolbunt rooster over my best hens....both tolbunt and gold laced right now....and then to use other roosters over experimental hens, like jim parker's hen or mottled houdans or gold laced, and raise their offspring seperate...looking for pairings that lead to improvements and then putting the best ones into the breeding flock with my best tolbunt rooster. Hope that makes sense

I think if you are getting as many bloodlines as possible you are starting off at a good place. That will give you lots of combinations to try and hopefully you wioll find pairings that give you good results. I think that the tolbunts in America are so compromised at this point that the best thing to do as a starting point is to introduce new blood without getting to far away from the tolbunt goal. I am sourcing the best quality gold laced and mottled houdans that I can find from breeders, and hope that next year I can put a tolbunt rooster over different groups of hens (one mottled houdan, one gold laced, one tolbunt) and then give their best offspring to my best tolbunt roo.

Good luck with your hatches, and good luck with your breeding efforts. If we all keep working on it from different angles hopefully someone will eventually achieve good results and share their methods with us

Good luck with your hatch!

...So Blue Tolbunt, or Tolbunt Dilute??? I am thinking Dilute. Waiting and watching.
I hatched out 2 blue one last year from the eggs I got from jim parker- one died the next day - the other has turned almost all white with blue tolbunt markings (blue is the dilute of black) she started out with a lot of color but now is almost all white. She lives with my mom's mixed polish flock now as of Easter when I moved her over. There are pics of her on my Tolbunt page before she left.
