Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

I had two hatch like that last week (completely pink skin). They are starting to get dark skin pigment on their legs/feet and beaks now though. I know it wouldn't have been good for breeding but I kind of thought a pink skinned silkie would make a pretty cute pet too!

I have a few with lighter skin, I was wondering about that!

Do you ship hatching eggs yet? Not that I need more eggs, or Silkies...buuuut, maybe I do? I mean, there's no telling how many of the Silkies in my brooder are roosters so, lol. :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
I know all about the rooster thing. Last year I had so many I only ended up with 3 hens out of about 24 chicks but I lost a lot with shipping etc. And this year so far 4 out of my 5 chicks were acting like roosters today, chest bumping and challenging each other. I hope they are all hens just goofing around but.....

WOW! That's a lot of roos. If it makes you feel better I have had plenty of pullets face off, bounce around the brooder, and play fight too.

I need to take some update pictures. I feel like some of them are quite light.

Paint silkies and white from paints are like that a lot of the time, it can take several weeks for the pigment to really start to fill in. It's pretty common for it to not fill in completely, the soles of the feet often has some pink spots that don't fill in. :)

Wow so many roosters! I hope your little ones are just goofing around too, I've had a couple girls that were worse than any boys in the brooder before!

Thank you! You're the Silkie queen! :bow
