I got my first pair of geese last week. They are white Romans.
And are 6 months old.
If they try to hatch a clutch of eggs in Feb or March should i let them???

Hello All,

I am new to BYC, but I have a question on my Toulouse Geese. I found an egg in a nest box today. Isn't it late for geese to be laying? I thought they would normally starting in February or March - at least that was when they started laying this past spring. The flock will be 2 years old in April and I had 2 hens that sat, but never hatched. Just wondering if this is normal for them to lay in the fall?

Thanks,

Rockado ~ James

Sometimes they will lay in the fall of the year, so it's normal.

I would say no but I have not raised geese for years and year yet!!!!
But i will have them the rest of my life cross my fingers hope so at least.

So we drove up to Gilbert today to the Webfoot ResQ and after a few mini "dates" we settled on a sweet 3yr old saddlebacked Pomeranian. He's a REALLY big boy with beautiful blue eyes. He was also hand raised as a single goose and a house pet so he should fit in perfectly. He was a little skittish at the rescue where there were lots of other geese, but they think he will really blossom in a nice one on one setting.

I'll take better pictures in the morning but we didn't get back til after dark

His name is Pomegranate, but I think we'll call him Pom Pom

And Trina riding home in the back seat next to Pom Pom in a crate
