Toulouse Geese Thread

She´s very pretty, and it´s not usually the females that give problems. Does she have a friend duck?

Yes she does! She's right in love with two of my ducks, she was raised with the two of them and they have been inseparable since. I was going to try to find her another goose friend but was unsuccessful at it which is why I went and got the two ducklings for her.

Shes beautiful Chester, I love my Toulouse Missy.

Thank you very much! I love her right to bits, she is the sweetest little bird. My farmy friends have been drooling over her since the first day I got her. I've had several people give me some offers on her but I just have to refuse:)

Good for you, I would be heartbroken if I had to part with my geese, I did have to go with a different breed though to find a mate for mine. I have Toulouse and Embden.

I wish I could of found a mate for her but no one in my area had any available at the time. I thought about ordering one through a hatchery but I would of needed to order a minimum of 20 birds(or something close to that) and I was just not ready for that many birds. She seems very content though with her duck friends though which makes me happy.

Have you checked your thread in the where am I where are you forum? What about Craig's list. There are normally several geese available as long as you aren't picky about breed.

O.k. do geese make nests in wet areas?

I only put about 3 to 4 inches of water inside the kiddie pool, to make emptying easier. Last few days, I keep finding lots of grass inside the pool. This morning, goose 1 was on the giant nest and goose 2 on the secondary nest inside the hutch. Goose 3 was standing in the pool pulling grass and putting the grass inside the pool. Not just a little bit of grass. She'll nearly pull a bare patch around the pool!

Have not found an egg in the pool yet...

Wild geese will nest in marshes. Mine all nest in or near the marsh on our land. She must like the shape of the pool. Could you fix up another one for her nearby with some grass already in it?

Well Bonnie is up to 4 eggs. Feeding question. We are giving the geese ground corn and laying mash and they free range daily. However with it being the winter it has there is not much grass to be found. Is there a supplemental hay product that I can give them at this time.
