Toulouse Geese Thread

Anyone know where I can get Toulouse Goslings in Missouri??? I know I can order them but the wife is hell-bent on seeing them in person and picking out the "right"one. : ) Please help!!!
Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, MO has goslings that you can pick out sometimes. Id definitely give them a call first, but if that's not too far, it might be worth a shot.

flock raiser is better for them than chick starter

I don't think they need the extra niacin if on the flock raiser someone else may know otherwise though
Thanks! That's definitely what I`ll feed them then. :D

O.K. so I got three SR Toulouse geese and I have no idea if I have males, females or a combination. I know the thing about finding out when they lay an egg and I am not inclined to try to sex a month old goose. So, here are pictures of Manny, Mo and Jack (hopefully Manny, Moline and Jacquiline) in hopes that someone can give me a hint. Their behavior is all the same for the three of them so far, all three very sweet and not at all aggressive.

I just hope that they are either all male or all female because if they are two males and one female I don't want to have to get rid of one male. I admit they have already managed to find a place in our poultry family, they get along well with the ducks and ignore the chickens, and I like having them all around. Any ideas as to gender?
Pretty babies, and I have a feeling they´re not all the same sex!

I think 1 is a girl, 3 is a boy and the jury is still out on #2

Hope that her health is improving. How old is she. Is she only a week old or older. I have three Toulouse and they do get into your heart really fast. Hopes and prayers for yours.

Just an update on my eggs! One hatched and another is pipped and chirping a lot! I dont remember what a day old Toulouse looks like but I can deffinately tell this is a mix! Its yellow with a light grey back with a yellow pouf on its head!! Its hatched last night in my hand after trying to hatch for over 48 hours! Poor thing is exhausted. Im completely in love and attached to this baby already. But ive noticed it doesnt want to eat or drink ive shown it how ive dipped its beak but it shakes it head and clacks its beak at me and wont touch the food. Plus it doesnt walk yet. Its legs kind of slide out sort of to the sides like its on slippery ground. It doesnt get around very well. Is that normal? Or will it get stronger with time since it took so long to hatch? I have it on about an inch of pine shaving bedding in a rubbermaid tub that i use as a brooder box for all my chicks. This is the first time ive hatched goslings so im not sure what the normal is for these little guys. Plus its not happy (constantly "cries" chirps peeps) until its held then it promtly snuggles in and falls asleep! Thanks for everything! I will try to get a picture posted if i can figure it out on the mobile phone.

Place an old towel under the goslings till it gets it's footing, much easier than shaving which can slide around, and they don't need to eat or drink for at least 24 hrs living off the yolk sac. Do you have a non breakable mirror you can put into the brooder with it/ this may help it not be so scared and needy although it's has oimprinted on you so now you are mama goose. probably when the next one hatches it will calm down alot. Congrats and good luck on the next. maybe by now it has already hatched. please keep us updated.
