So lil drake is the leader of the pack lol
are you giving them Brewers yeast on their feed? if not watch closely they don't have any leg problems seems we are seeing quite a bit of it this year mainly Vitamin B3 def. [niacin]

I just expanded the 25x21 pin (525 sq ft) for two geese to 71x21 (1, 491 sq ft!!) for five geese! It looks so nice and when I let Kiwi and Mango out they ran around in circles flapping their wings. We're about to add hot wire around the pin also!!! Pics to come of the new set up.

My trio (2 buff and 1 Toulouse) are coming tomorrow.

I have 2 gander 2 females so far they have gone through almost 1 whole breeding season with out problems.

At 1 month 1 week I don't think you need to worry about them flying usually once they get completely feathered and get those flight wings you may see low flying or play practice is what I call it. I clip one wing on each of my geese [except my Embden gander he is too heavy to fly and I don't think he'd leave his family anyway]. after molt because we have a fast flowing river down below us and I really don't want to lose them.

jtn who has Toulouse says his fly over fencing so it is up to individual goose owner as to clip or not.Mating may start late fall into late winter and usually last till end of May.
THANKS

jtn here...yes, my three adult Toulouse can and do fly very well. So far they have not tried to fly away, which I don't think they could do, but they do fly about 8-10 feet off the ground and from from 1/4 to 1/2 acre at a time.

They have blessed me with 8 beautiful little goslings this year who just turned 4 weeks old. And, I may be nuts, but I think they are teaching them to fly already. They stand upright and stretch our their necks and flap their wings while running across the field and the little ones do the same with their little stubby wings that are just beginning to get feathers.

Lol!! I run away from my three little babies and they chase after me with their wing stubs out, hoping one day they fly instead of run!

It does help, best thing to do is be proactive instead of waiting I think we see it more from brooder raised than gosling raised out side with parents. So if I was raising gosling in a brooder and I did last year I'd sprinkle Brewers yeast[not baking yeast] over their feed daily till 10 weeks old. Ducklings too. That way you'll be sure there won't be any leg problems
