Toulouse Geese Thread

Worked. Great flight. Mine will fly in a big arch around a 3 acre field but they don't have any trees to maneuver around. Impressive.
thank you , anastasia , she's a really good flyer , for a six month old !,
it's really fun to have big birds flying around you !

Hi everyone, Toulousemama here. First off I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. I hope everyone has had a great year.. Things have been happening at a rapid pace with Gertrude and Gilda. They are now officially fly girls. They have learned the landing technique and use it frequently. I built them an enclosure with eight foot high fencing and they flew right over it... Gertrude has been sick since December 4th. I think she got soaked and chilled so netted her since she kept running away from me and put her in the barn to dry out and started her on electrolytes and spinach and and all high vitamin foods.. She is finally coming round. Yes I did consult our vet and followed his instructions and she is at 85% as of today. The next bit of info I have to share is rather interesting. Gilda killed a mole yesterday. It was quite a surprise. Has anyone had any experience with this before. My husband and I were very surprised.. Well not much more to report for now. Have a great holiday season. Toulousemama.

Hi toulousemama and good to see you, did the vet think Gertrude may have eaten something that made her sick? If you ever suspect it's botulsim here on the goose thread page there is a sticky with info on how to treat.
hope she feels 100% real soon. Also Spinach is not good for our water fowl it inhibits calcium from getting into their bones some how. so might want to lay off of spinach.

I haven't ever seen my geese kill anything but I would not put it passed them they sure seem like they'd like to pluck some of the ducks and chickens here. if they were to kill something small my other birds would most likely eat it.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours.

Went out this morning to check on my girls and Gertrude is back to her young sassy self.. That's good and bad for she is the loudest of the two. Still all n all I would rather have her that way than the other. Thank you to the everyone who has offered help when I've asked. You all have helped me learn more about my geese than any books, articles and info I could read. I wish you all a healthy, happy and fun filled holiday season. Toulousemama
