Toulouse Geese Thread

Missy has laid egg number 48 this morning but the worrisome part is for the last 3 days she has laid an egg a day, I'm not kidding, yesterday she laid in the duck house no mistaking that egg from a duck egg, day before she laid in her stall, and this morning she laid in her stall. I always heard it was every other day they laid and that's the way it's been up until the last 3 days, anyone elses goose laying like this. They like to keep ya on your toes that's for sure.

I've never had that number from the Toulouse, occasionally I've had one every day but to be more accurate every 1.5 days. She sure is a good layer!!!

It is usually just clear. A few times early in the morning it has been white. As a mom I figured if its not green that's a good sign.
If you still see it after a week of using the ACV then you may want to start a round of antibiotics but I'm so leery of using them if they are acting normal and don't appear sick.

She an excellent layer, I took all of her eggs out last week the last 5 because my Muscovy was sitting on them during the day and it was causing her to be emotional in the evenings when The geese came in to claim their room and I really don't want her to brood anyway plus all of Missy eggs I opened weren't fertile. So these last 3 are freshly laid and I mark on the calendar when she lays to keep up with it. I'm telling you all 48 eggs and only a couple weeks break and one soft shell and one wrinkled This girl deserves a break.

Gerdie is laying about every 36 hours now... works out to 2 days in a row with a day off.

So what does everyone feed their adult geese? Mine are eating the meat bird maker from Agway, same as the chickens. I'm not sure of the protein amount at the moment. I make FF for them with it. The do get plenty of grass and love dandelion greens.

I feed our sebastopols what they call Multi Flock. During the winter I have them mix 300 pounds of Multi Flock and 200 pounds of oats. The protein level is 15% for the winter which has worked out great this year for us.

Our local mill makes "Duck and Goose Maintenance", and it seems to work well for us. I also feed them all the raw vegetable scraps from the kitchen, and they eat grass and dandelions now that the ground is thawed.
