There´s a big possibility that he´ll always think he´s really a chicken, but hopefiully he´ll realise that his life has broadened a bit and he has these other critters to have fun with!!!Hi!! The gander feels at home now but he still wants to hang out with the chickens! He sleeps in the goose house with Lucy, but soon as I let everyone out to free range he runs to be with the chickens. He knows the routine of bedtime now so that part is good and he likes the treats I give him. When I'm at work he stays penned with Lucy. So maybe some day soon he may realize he's a goose and not a chicken, lol.
Sounds like your back´s inflamed,...take an anti-inflammatory to help, although normally inflammation will start to improve after a day or two, and do as little lifting as possible. To rest your back, lie flat and with your feet still on the floor/bed, whatever (level with the body), bend your legs so your knees are in the air. This is a great resting postion for the back. Thanks for the advice about soaks. I tried soaks and the heating pad for 5 days and it was just getting worse. Friday I started ice every hour and rest. Lots of sleep and rest, and it is much improved, but I think I need to spend another 3 days without doing any lifting. But since I have 3 little girls aged 7 and under, the birds, and then a hubs who works out of town most of the time, it just is not possible to get as much rest as I most likely should!
I wanted to see what you all think of these eggs. Do you think they look fertile?
This is the first one we opened. I thought it looked like it was.
Now this one, is one that froze and had a small crack when I brought it in. I am not sure if that is a bulls-eye or not....
And one more of the goose house post blizzard.

COLD!!!!! also very bad for backs with muscle problems....but not as bad as heat is for inflamed ones! Could be that´s why heat isn´t helping so much........hope you soon feel better.![]()
Eggs look good, what did you do with them?
There´s a big possibility that he´ll always think he´s really a chicken, but hopefiully he´ll realise that his life has broadened a bit and he has these other critters to have fun with!!!particularly one that looks a bit like him!
Come the urges, he´ll get it sorted, for sure! Well, for the chickens´ sake, I certainly hope so!!

One of my chickens, in the laying modd, started eating the crumbs I put down for a duck with her ducklings, and the duck started having a go, biting the chicken´s neck and back...what did the chicken do? Just flattened herself, thinking it must be some crazy type of cockerel!![]()
Oh my gosh!! I just hope the gander doesn't try that with the chickens!!
Yeah, wouldn´t do your back much good, either!Yep. Pretty sure it is inflamed. My 5yr old had a go with it over a week ago. (Jumped ontop, knees first right into it) I've been taking tylenol when the pain gets real bad and will stop in at the chiro when I take my next trip to town. Maybe tomorrow. I've been trying to treat it at home since our insurance wont cover the chiro.I cant take ibuprofen since I developed an allergy when I was pregnant with baby number 3.
I scrambled the eggs up and fed them back to the birds. I was going to eat it myself since it was cracked and frozen I didn't want to chance it. I want to try hatching a few of these, but wasnt sure if I was seeing things that they looked fertile. Guess that means I can fire up the incubator when the weather warms up a bit.
So, what would be the proper way of storing these eggs if I wanted to attempt hatching a few. I think if I can get her to sit on some later down the road I would like to do that as well. I love a broody mama way more than having to brood them myself.
Yeah, wouldn´t do your back much good, either!![]()
