Toulouse Geese Thread

Rey, cute grey trio!!! Aoxa, her blue eyes look just like my buff girl, Nutmeg. Very pretty, even if not SOP correct.
Thank you. Since they are so rare here, I will most likely breed her anyway and cull any with blue eyes (sell them as pets). Will she get DQ or just faulted? I had already entered both in a show for the end of the month. I know they are young, but the original breeder has convinced me to anyway ;) They will be the only buff there.

Rosa is behind Tilly. Tilly is more friendly.

Talking back to me. Rosa honks more than Tilly.

I think they are pretty. I havn't checked out eye color. I just happened onto this thread a minute ago, and am surprised at how many folks I like that are here. May I join you, even though I don't really want to go read the last 15 pages?

Of course :D

I can't seem to locate the SOP for dewlap Toulouse. Celtic, can you let us know where to find it if you know?

I ordered my hard-cover and got a door-hanger in my mailbox yesterday. I think it's here :D

It is in the APA breed book. One thing to note.... based on my extensive discussions with two of the US top judges and dewlap breeders, Gary Overton and Jim Konecny, it takes at least 3 years for a dewlap to reach full size. They develop at different rates and may appear to have poor keels as a youngster and then seem to explode over night into having good looking keels. I have also noticed that a few of my blue-eyed buffs seem to be getting more hazel looking eyes as they get older too, so maybe yours will change to hazel in the next few months.

Hey Marty.

The parents were very nice. He borrowed a gander from the zoo believe it or not to make the buff sex links.

Here is a picture of one of Jamie's young Toulouse ganders. His name is Jamie Carson. He is also certified APA judge, but I have not mentioned the eye colour to him yet.

Here is another one.

That gander is lovely!! I know of Jamie, but have not spoken with him. I am well familiar with color genetics in breeding dewlaps and personally have a buff male/grey female pair for that purpose. I would expect Jamie would also tell you that dewlaps develop differently than other breeds. So much also depends on how they are cared for too.

Here is a 30 day before/after of my girl, Shuffle, who is approximately 1.5 years old.

Yes he has explained :) He told me that right now Rosie is better, but that can change very quickly. He has been very supportive and even located a gander for me and someone to bring him from Kansas to mate my girls. Don't know what I'd do without his help! Very nice man.

I am the only one he has ever sold goslings to. He doesn't like to sell them until he knows how they develop (to keep best for himself - greedy ;) - but I explained how important the bonding time was for me. He only had two buffs hatch, so he gave me the option of getting them. To say I jumped would be an understatement

Wow! What a difference 30 days makes!
