Tractor supply chicks

Hello, I purchased some chicks from tractor supply and they were labeled americana. The chicks don’t look like a typical americana or Easteregger. They don’t have a big beard like the other chicks I purchased before. I posed a photo, do these look like true Easter Eggers or Americana? I want green or blue eggs and I’m not sure if I’m going to get them with these girls.

They're still Easter Eggers. Just muffless ones. They're basically just mutts that all lay a green, blue, or pinkish egg. There are lots of variations.

If you are wanting exact breeds with certain traits it's best to stay away from places like tractor supply.

Nothing wrong with their birds (mine came from there) but they don't care about the details, just if you paying with cash or credit. Number of breeders out there the same way you just have to make sure you buy from a good one.

A little hard to ID EE chicks because they can come in almost any color, but possible that that's not an EE.

Not all of them have beards or muffs, so don't rely on that as an indicator.

It's best to have some idea of what chicks of the breeds supposedly in the feed store bins actually look like, before buying them. Chicks get moved around in those brooder bins, and are often mislabeled, by both breed and sex. This can be entertaining, or a misery, depending on what your needs and expectations are.

I see yellow/orange legs in one pic. Maybe they're not EEs then.

*Just* picked up chicks from TSC before I read this post and realized the same thing - not sure if these are the true breed I was comparing them to with Meyer Hatchery, but still an adventure! I do hope they colorful eggs.
