Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to our local Tractor Supply today and I was very disappointed!! The people working there were RUDE! You have to buy at least 6 and I only wanted two more( have2 at home). Wouldn't sell me 2.
I bought my feed and grit and hen treats but I will not be back.
Went to a local feed store and bought 2 rhode island red pullets. Was very happy with the friendliness of the store!
In this economy you'd think people would try to earn your repeat business!
Anyhow- in my book locally owned is nicer. Good luck!

I know in Ohio It's a state reg that states they can't sell poultry in groups of less than 6. Has to do with the health & safety of the birds. So it's not TSC telling you how many birds you have to buy in many cases, but the state you live in.

When I purchased mine the only choices were gold sex-link straight run, red pullets, and assorted pullets. No bantams or ducks at all. Ask one associate she got another who in turn got another. Guess I was asking too many questions. They were friendly enough but not real helpful.

The TSC close to us seem to sale only Red Sex-Links and Cornish. They say at times they might get other breeds in but it's very rare. We have been wanting some buff or light brahma's but do not want to buy 15-25 through mail order. They have the 6 chick min. rule when buying which is understandable.

I went in last week right before easter hoping they'd get a bunch in, the guy let me go in the back to teh ones they hadn't put out yet and I got to sort through probably 200 chicks and pulled out 6 silkies! :) Now I'm happy. And very glad chick days are over... i've got waaay too many chicks right now!

I'd like to know when they carry ducklings..anyone know?

Mine have had Reds..not sure what kind they are (red with light red stripes on back), some RIR's, Barred Rocks, Americaunas.
That's all ive seen so far..but I'm not there that often, I live too far from town.

I've got 4 tsc's within 45 minutes of my house I've been to all 4. No one had a clue what they have,or seems to care what condition the chicks are in. At 2 of the stores I pointed out that a few of them had pasty but, they just said " oh that just happens they'll ne ok." To which I replied "that you wouldn't be ok if you couldn't poop & I wouldn't be buying my chicks there."

The TSC I was in looked as though they had not cleaned out the pens the chicks are kept in for days. Very stinky. They had a pre-easter sale this past Saturday any chick for ONLY 50 cents! Seemed that day it was ok NOT to meet the 6 count min. when buying. I seen one person walk out with only 4 chicks. I was told they did that in hopes to sale them all so they didn't have to come in Sunday to feed them! That was said from a sales person.
