Tractor Supply Employee Knowledge About Chicks

Quote:
I had noticed a few times ago, when we were in TSC, they had a sheet on chick care. It was tucked away under a shelf of chicken stuff on sale, on top of the chicken hutch on display......
However, we got 6 chicks yesterday and that sheet was not given to us. (luckily, because of all that I have learned here and on the net in general, I know the proper care)

i also was disappointed when I went to TSC last evening - in previous years, the chicks/ducks were kept very well, but last night when I went in- one bin of chicks had no water in the waterer - an employee asked me if I needed help, and I told her that there was no water in there. I came back by after about 20 minutes, and there was still not water in there - so I took a full waterer out of an empty bin and put in with them. As it was just at closing time, I hope that they put new water out for all the peeps/ducks before closing for the night.

i haven gon to our small feed store but i went into our JAX farm and ranch store , the have a person there that is spacificly the animal/ pet person, she was incharge of ordering the chick and ducks , special ordering anything you wanted that they were not alredy getting in, and answering questions and asking peaople geting chicks if it was their first time. if it was she would walk around with them explaining what they needed for the chicks to go home. she made sure that they knew the corect temp to keep them, the corect feed to start them on. i was very impressed that she could answer their questions even breed questions and if she didnt know she would call the hatchery to find out. she knew the breeds she had in the store and could tell people what color they all laid. and was even able to tell me that the only white egg layer they had in was a california white and she even knew that it was a cross breed! (white leghorn/california grey) but i would NEVER ask the cashiers at the front anything. they didnt evenknow they had the chicks in ! never mind that they were in the MAIN isle and you could here them peeping!

i've been to TSC at chick time once and called another about chick time, the one i went to had soo cute chicks, at that time, all i knew about chickens, a chicken was a chicken and they all layed brown or white eggs, and all had single combs. at the store i went directly to the chicks, it said Stright run, i though staright run meant they had a place to move around! and on the side of the bin said CORNISH. before i left, i picked up a catologe they had, and i found the "cornish" in there, today i relized that those were Cornish rock cross, not Cornish. and in Febuary this year i called another TSC, at least they KNEW what kind of chickens they had (RIRs, Cornish X, and a bantam assortment) but they didn't know when the chicks where coming all they knew was "in late April"

DARN IT!!!! i just called TSC, and all they are getting are cornish x and ducks........... but the funny thing is, is when i asked what kinds they had he said "Cornish Rocks straight run and duck stright run, but i don't know what kind until they get here." staright run means not sexed, DUH!!!

my most favorite is this! last year my friens and i were wondering if tsc had any red sex links, those are her favorites for eggs, so we call, and the employee thought it was an obscene phone call! we asked, "hi, do you have any sex links?" we thought we were going to die!
