Tractor Supply Employee Knowledge About Chicks

The employees at Tractor Supply and Feed Stores don't need to be Poultry experts but they should know the breeds of chicks that that store is carrying and if they are straight run, pullets or cockerals. and also standard or bantam. I don't think thats too much to expect. Also that a Cornish Cross is raised strickly as a meat bird.

I called TSC the other day to see if the chicks had come in. I was told they had red ones black ones and BANTANAS.

I started to go and see if the chicks were singing "Black Magic Pullet"

Instead, I just filled the incubator. I might be picking up some Marans this week. At least I hope to.

I have only had 1 bad experience with TSC after that it never happen again.

I have health problems so I can't lift a lot of weight, 2 men were standing next to me wearing TSC vests they looked at me trying to pull out 50 lb bags and stood for a long time I waited to hear them say need help? I could have asked but I wanted to see if they would offer neither one did I could have sat on those bags and scootched up to the front to check out they would have still stood there lol. My husband finally came around the corner and lifted the bags into the cart.

I got up front to check out an they had a kid at the check out my husband was in line i was still looking at stuff around the register and I heard the kid say he wouldn't check out a Mexican I said you D*ck how rude can you be? The girl next to him said you can get in trouble for that the kid laughed said he didnt really care.

Since then they have been really nice to us I haven't had a problem or seen that kid around any more. We spend a great deal there pretty much every 2 weeks we are in there to buy feed and we also get clothes from there and foot ware. I am sure they know us by now...

I was determined not to buy chicks last week when I went to TSC. As I was admiring the bin-o-chicks, one of the gals informed me that they were "pure breed ameraucanas" and they are the ultimate dual purpose bird......I shop at Fleet Farm now.

The reason I still shop there is cause their feed is 5% off right now and has been since summer. My regular feed store charges between 11.00 - 12.00 50 lb bag of grains and corn is 11.00 for 50 lb bag. At TSC All purpose grains 9.99 and 5 % off that I save money, and on the corn its 10.99 with extra 5% off that price. With gas prices going up, right now every penny counts.

I was at TSC this last weekend. I rean into a young gal that knew A LOT about chickens. It was obvious she knew more about them than most of the people wanting to buy them. She was very knowlegeable about the chickens and their care.

Poor girl. She had a store manager that didn't know ANYTHING about the chicks trying to tell her what to do, such as, "Just leave them outside for now. They will be okay."

I called my TSC yesterday before going up there to see if they had bantams in. I was put on hold for quite a while and when the girl came back she said "I don't know if we have bantams or not, Ameracauna or Wyandotties maybe. They have black spots. They just got in this morning. Its our feature breed." That's when I decided to order bantams from Ideal, at least they know what they are talking about.
