They look like they are having a group hug lol.

We added a dozen Rock Island brand fertile brown eggs from lucky's, they are big round light brown eggs. I don't have high hopes since the seemed pretty cold though but its worth a try for $3.50. The expiration was 4/21 and they went in 4/4 after they set for a day.

2 pips so far, and I'm pretty sure there is good development in quite a few of the others so there may be more to come.

Congrats! Keep us posted....and pics are a must!

I've got 12 SLW eggs and a dozen+ Star eggs going in today...May have to swing by TJ's and see about some fillers!

well my store boughts are 3 weeks! all are doing good. and I still have 4 white and 1 redish. 2 are looking like roos and 3 hens. Lets see there's Rusty (the redish one), Gretta (white w/ this brown dot on her head) and Maggie (she's just all white), and I was thinking of naming the boys George and Bob, however my Brother in laws name is Bob and I don't know if he'd like that so much. Anyways I can't tell those 2 apart so maybe i'll just name the both of them George.

George 1 and George 2 lol why not.

2 are out and 5 more that I can see are pipped, couple are begining to zip.

I ended up having to pull some out, one managed to push half an eggshell over a pip, and another was relentlessly pecking at one of the pips.

The 2 in the center front are from the grocery store eggs (rest are favs)
Rock Island is Petaluma farms, their website says their brown layers are RIRs, but these are really yellow?

go figure right?? I got 4 whites and 1 redish, and they were supossed to be red rock X's (what ever that is)

I was thinking about it again, they do say the layers are RIR but they don't say what the roos are.
They also have white leghorns, maybe they use leghorn roos so they can easily spot which birds are roos.

Could be leghorns or, more likely, white rocks.... ergo a red rock cross would be -- what -- white rock roo on a production red?

If the resultant chicks are sex-links, then the hen chicks would be white and the males reddish.
