Checked the eggs under the broody last night, doesn't look like any are fertile. I also noticed the air pockets were loose, is she doing that? The one's in my bator don't have loose air cells.

I've been following this thread for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time, wanting to try this out. So I figure, why not? I have an incubator... so when I get off work in about half an hour, I'm going to head over to TJs and see if they have any fertile eggs!

got my eggs, came home, plugged in the incubator, but i can't find my thermometer anywhere! Looks like its time for a trip to walmart... Hmm... Wonder if walmart has any fertile eggs...

The 3 digit code on my eggs is 067, which means they were packed on 3/8, right? so that would only make them ~3 days old (are the packed the same day they are laid?).

Oh, and these eggs only have the sell by date stamped on the front six. Is that normal? When I noticed it, i thought maybe someone switched out the others or something...

I'm probably going to have a ton of questions in the next 3 weeks! This is my second attempt at hatching, first time was unsuccessful, I think my eggs were too porous.

I'm thinking about going and getting some after my eggs hatch. does anyone prefer any specific brand from TJs that seem to hatch better than others? Also, i think i want some light colored ones so they're easier to candle than these brown ones i've got lol.

I put 3 dozen eggs from a local specialty grocery store 3 weeks ago. Only 6 have made it to lock-down.

Watching for them to hatch now.

i've also heard whole foods has them? anyone know about theirs? i've got both stores in my little town... lol.

I haven't confirmed it with the crack-and-see test, but it has been reported that Whole Foods' Nutrifresh Fertile and 365 brand are fertile.

(And, as any egg person will tell you, just because a roo is in the flock does not necessarily guarantee the egg is fertile)

I might be a tad suspect about the ones that do not have a stamp on them, as in you could be correct that somebody switched out some. Egg transportation is hard on eggs, and often times there are gorilla clerks in the back room when the trucks come in. If you have a good light/candler, check to make sure your eggs aren't pre-scrambled before you set in the incubator. My last batch of TJ's eggs had 4 in that condition...the rough ride from Pasadena to Las Vegas in a freight truck probably did them no favors....and the TJ's eggs aren't known for strong shells, either.
