Tragedy related to nutrition?

I uld.

Just wanted to jump in and tell you How much i enjoyed my trip to Eagle Dove yesterday.. bought 150lbs of feed but hoping it will last a while. Got to see the chickens in the back and was so tempted to bring some of the juvies home but knew I would have to face my dh so didn't but will maybe in the spring..

but I was a little concerned about the amt. of dust in the bag of layer and scratch? I hope that is okay. and it's too cold out yet to go out and see how much my flock has eaten of their new feed. I like the fact that it has fish meal in it, a good sourse of protein since Purina products don't have it. Thanks again for the info.

Glad you enjoyed it. A friend of mine mixes her feed with apple juice so that nothing goes to waste. I've found that mine eat it all even when it gets scratched out of the troughs we use for the outdoor feed. (We also keep continuous feed inside). If you are used to pellets, then the Countryside would seem a bit dusty.

I guess thats the problem I have feed pellets for so long, I just hope my flock likes it. There was quite a bit eaten today so i guess they did. It will take some getting use to for them i'm sure. He had a good price on DE also. much better than buying online and having to pay shipping.

Be sure to post what you decide to mix in. I thought about doing it too but thought heck for what I had to pay for it hopefully it has everything they need.

They do get dried mealworms everyday and greens and stuff like that extra.

We let ours out for an hour or so in the late afternoon for fresh greens and left over garden stuff - there is still some spinach and lettuce trying to grow in this freezing weather.

I have had mine on Countryside since the End of May and my flock has done well. They are mixed mutts, barred rocks, EE's, a speckled sussex, and some production reds.

They consistently laid 9 to 10 eggs a day out of 11 chicks
Many days 11
And now even with the winter (I don't add light but do live in florida) and temps dropping 60's day 40's nights they are laying 8 to 9 eggs a day out of 11.
Before Countryside they were on Dumor and I could tell when I put it out that they liked it better.

I will say though when I opened the bag it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

Hope you like and that it works well for you.

Miss Lydia, I can't mix anything in to crumbles. But I buy horse sweetfeed that's predominately whole/crushed oats held together with molasses.I use that as scratch since it has nutrition and protein in it. So I think I'll mix in pearl millet, alfalfa leaves or pellets, and fish meal, I guess. And increase the mixture I give them. That should do it. I just don't have good feed available here.

I wish mine had access to a green veggie garden!
