If you have a picnic table, a 2x4 and a large garbage can you can catch raccoons easily that way... This method should only be used if you are planning on killing it... Place the garbage can right beside the none bench side of the picnic table then fill the garbage can half full of water... place the 2x4 or similar piece of wood (4 or 5 feet) on top of the table so part of it hangs over the garbage can. Make sure minimal weight has to be put on the wood over the garbage can so it can fall off... bait the table and the end of the wood (you can also place some bait in the can as well, styrofoam plates work well for that) so the raccoon has to walk on the 2x4, making it fall into the garbage can. Once the raccoon is in the garbage can the weight of his fur from the water will prevent him from being able to climb out, and the weight of the water will make it so he can't tip the can.

We don't bother with the trap anymore. Hubby has a hard time trapping animals. If they're caught early, they sit in the trap too long overnight for him. This one cut its feet all up trying to dig its way out. He doesn't like it when they suffer. Now he just uses the "Flashlight and Ruger" method.

Well seeing as how i have 8 oclock college classes, it's not feasible for me to stay up at night and hunt coons. not to mention 1) i don't like guns. 2) i'm a horrible shot. 3) i'd end up shooting one of the goats/sheep on accident.

Yeah. The ruger method isn't for everyone. But now now you know it likes the bread! Good luck tonight, and keep us posted!

Edit for typo.

I baited the bait tonight. I sprinkled some Golden Malrin on the honey on the bread. I backed the back of the trap up against the fence and put the bread at the very back of the trap. So even if the poison doesn't work, the trap should get him. And before any of y'all fuss at me for using poison, i gotta do what i gotta do. I pay too much for my birds and i don't have enough money as it is and the more the coon catches, the more i have to replace. I'd rather poison the coons since they'll be killed either way and since i'm adverse to being the one that shoots them.

for every coon you catch there will normally be another 4-5 don't stop trapping too early I prefer traps I can count what I get rid of with poison you have no Idea how many you have gotten
