Tree Seed Experiment

How do you bonsai something?
I usually start with a young sapling and just keep the roots system contained. Prune and trim when needed. I have the mimosa and a Japanese maple growing outside from this spring. As long as they survive ohio winter, I'll move them to a planter in the spring, just to give them some time to grow. I have a small elm tree that been hit with the mower. I thought it was cool looking. Ill get pictures if I remember

Late update from day 2 of experiment: No growth (shocking, I know) from any of the seeds. Condensation has started to form in the ziploc bag, though. I got a pic of the tree but it I don't have it on my computer. I also have a pic of one of the weird imported trees to give an example of what kind of stuff is there.

Here's the tree. I know it' not a great picture, sorry about that. The leaves at the bottom are from a vine, not the tree. I wish I could be more helpful with the picture. To give an example of some of the weird imported stuff there:

^Those are both of the same weird bush that apparently gets flowers in the spring.
