So....... Anyway, I had to run to the city to pick up a couple pallets of feed. Was a deal of a life time and I had to get there quick!
So I dropped everything I was doing and hopped into the Cherokee and bolted into town.
Been up since 6, no breakfast or lunch. I was starving!
Out of desperation, I pulled into a fast food place and went thur the drive thru. I don't want to slander the name of the place, so we will just say they have a clown for a mascot.
Got about 2 miles down the road were it was safe to open and eat on my way back.
This is a photo made by them of what I chose off the menu....

Man, I don't eat there much, but that baby made my mouth water. Looking at that photo made me order that! Yum! I am hungry!

So here is what they gave me..

I snapped a pic at the next traffic light.
I left it on my dashboard all the way home and gave it to my dogs! I went inside and made me human consumption food. I called the number on the receipt and told the manager they are false advertising quality and I feed my hogs better than he feeds his customers. He offered me a free meal or etc but I said no thanks! Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me!
That is why we eat what we grow on our farm. We feed pigs, not eat like them!
Gross.
:sick

This is what "Human Consumption" food looks like.
Nothing fast food about it!

A whole bird cut up.. (Mean rooster) grilled over kingsford charcoal and hickory nuts off our trees for that smoked flavor.
IMG_20170821_223141.jpg

Homemade blackening season prior to grilling and topped off with fresh green onion cut right off the plants outside the kitchen door.

Homemade baked beans with molasses and pork we raised.

I cheated on the texas toast! But hickory smoked it.. hehe.. Fresh from our freezer?:lau
You are what you eat, from your head to your feet.
We eat farm fresh... Just because we choose to.
:highfive:

I have total "Hatch lag" today. It's like jet lag. I am on call for 2 days as head nurse. Little sleep from staying up late and getting up early.
The eclipse babies are wonderful! Lost one.. Bummer.
The second day (21) was quite eventful.
The early birds get the worm.. Or see the eclipse.. Hehe.
I put photos up in a while.
Sitting in the barn taking a break.. Hot!!!

So I have this tiny weird looking barred rock we hatched.. I separated her from the rest of he incubator mates. She was born on 7/7 I believe, but slightly runted. She seems to have no neck, or at the least a very short one. She is rock hard and stuffed in her breast area and I am worried about her. I placed her in the hospital with VIP (very important pullet) to keep jer company. Although I don't know how long that company will last if she explodes!

Well, break is over.. I'll check on her again..
Toot a loo!

These are Gloucestershire pigs. Famous for bacon bounty and lots of jowl! Got the girls up to 225. Was shooting for 250# but the feed is killing us with the other litters, 3 other feeders and 7 massive breeders.
My veggie score is almost gone.
Turkeys are next to process. Too many mouths to feed and plenty of freezer space.

Contingency plan in place. Cherokee doa. Bribing brother for a favor to pull the bacon to our processor.
7 am.. Time to show him how to manipulate 450 pounds of stubborn but smart mammals to hop in and strap on a seat belt..
