Spent some time this evening weeding the front beds. Turkey girls went with. I was pulling weeds & tossing them in a pile for the girls to eat or mangle. We have a system now. Neighbor with a 3 year old boy stopped to visit the turkeys. The kid was great. He slowly walked up & sat down. Daisy couldn't resist. She sat down next to him. He petted her very gently. Even Annie walked up to him. Poor kid didn't want to leave. Started crying when dad said they had to go. He was so good with the hens. A natural.

Poor hen. I hate it when I have something go broody! Ugg. I've never had a Speckled Sussex go broody. My Australorps are the worst for me to break.

Your not the first one I seen mention they don't see their Tom's eat. I'm sure the time of year is playing a part. My hens don't miss a meal. They get a small bedtime snack of BOSS.

Yeah, I'm just waiting for mine to go broody. Neither are laying right now. Annie is just about done with her molt and Daisy is around a month behind her. But since I can't walk through my yard with out a chicken or turkey throwing itself in front of me, I'm assuming they will resume soon.

And yes Annie laid an egg on top of a broody Australorp. I just saw the chickens head poking up from under her tail. After she laid the egg & left the box Thelma was trying to roll that big egg between her legs.

Feisty....I'm feeling it for your husband. Poor guy. I'm lucky my girls are good about bedtime. If I'm a bit late they just roost on my back porch rail. And mine are great about being picked up. For good or bad....I pick them up and give them hugs a lot.

Its raining and will continue through the weekend. Uck! What a mess. Although its great for my gardens.
