I may be seeing signs of Annie thinking about going broody. She spent a few hours yesterday circling one particular bush in my garden. She'd crawl under it, scratch around, then circle around again. Every so often she would wander over & check out other areas. I watched this behavior for several hours. She's never done this before.

What's going on with Mr. T? Holm, how is your rooster?

Hey ya'll! Was out showing dogs for several days!

Love all the chick pics! Too cute!

Feedman....my one and only Bourbon Red hen has a beard. I haven't been able to see, or feel one, on Daisy. I'm wondering too if there is a higher percentage with heritage breeds vs. wild. Interesting.

Boy did my girls bark at me when I got home! They wouldn't shut up until I came back out and spent time with them. They are just spoiled! Daisy had to settle down in my lap and Annie perched on the arm of the chair.

Feedman...I do miss my girls when I'm on the road. But I have a great chicken sitter. She's just a few houses away. Loves the turkeys. They are easy to deal with, my chickens take advantage of her. She takes good care of them. But boy, my turkeys give me an ear full when I get back.

Since I have lappers, I've noticed a difference in the blue slate & red bourbon feathers. Those new red feathers are so smooth, soft & shiny. Daisy's blue feathers are not as soft and I guess to the color not as shiny. But boy they are pretty.

Aurora.....have you kept any poults? Just curious to see how they are turning out.

Ralph....from what understand Duane's birds are really nice! Doms & Buckeyes are great breeds too. Friend of mine has all Doms. Cool birds. I see a lot of Buckeyes down here too. They àre beautiful too.

I'm excited for you! Another incubator!! I accused Aurora of being a poult pusher! But she did find some mottled eggs to hatch. Can't wait to see them!

My girls are laying their tail feathers off! Their eggs are going to a chef. He's thrilled. Told me I needed more turkey hens. I keep trying to convince him to get some himself. He has large gardens behind his restaurant.
