Hey ya'll. Been traveling again. Uggg....

Aurora....those pouts are amazing! I wanna see that baby strutting!

Feisty....your poultry pile-up cracked me up! Annie crawled into a nest box with one of my broodies. The funny thing was watching that Australorp trying to roll that big egg between her legs!

Ralphie...did that lone poultry hatch?

Coffee...how is Porter doing?

Landed yesterday in the middle of a storm....always a thrill. By the time I got home the storm has passed & I had time to hang with the hens. Lots of chirping, clucking & wing flapping. We took a walk and kicked the soccer ball around for them. They all sure stick tight after I've been gone a few days. Goofy birds. I know....they are spoiled....

Feedman...get a bourbon egg yet??

Ralphie....what's hatching over there??

Aurora....I think you need to post weekly pics of those mottled babies!

Good luck Feedman...can't wait to see poult pics!

Figured out a new use for a lapper. Lap desk. Yep. I was sorting mail on Daisy's back and working on my tablet. I'm telling ya, she likes to settle down on my lap for a snooze and doesn't seem to mind me setting up my tablet on her back. A turkey lap desk is quite handy.

Ralph, are you incubating turkey eggs yet?

Coffee, how's it going with your turkey herd?

Feedman...sounds like things are going well with the hatch! Yipee! Can't wait to see pics of them all.

Welcome Trish! Your Palms are gorgeous!

We have a few special terms we use for turkeys on this thread:

Lapper - the turkey that seeks out attention, likes to sit in your lap or be easily picked up
Tolerant - the turkey that would rather not be picked up, but will allow it
Lurky - the turkey that doesn't want to be petted or picked up but follows you everywhere
Bellybutton - our term for a jerk turkey

So, I have lappers. And your right....they make great pets!!

Ralphie....those SS are just the best. Glad you got a little lapper out of it! Big Betty used to hop in my lap all the time until Daisy arrived and decided she is the only lapper allowed.
The one thing about the SS is that they are the BEST foragers I have. The Barnvelders aren't too bad, the Australorps are slackers. I let my SS squad in my garage and they go hunting for bugs. They crawl behind everything. They have a bug hunting routine!!

Waterfowl can be a sensitive subject around here! Sort of a running joke!

Nothing better than a lap turkey.
