R2elk nailed it! I'd be overrun!

But to be fair...I'll never have enough hens to make a tom happy. I don't want either hen hurt in the "heat of the moment". Remember, I'm an accidental turkey owner having wrangling Daisy roadside in the midst of rush hour traffic. Annie was wrangled out of a field to be her roommate. They are a source of amusement & endless fascination! I've had a blast learning about turkeys & their behavior. Someday, when I'm not working so much, I'll expand my flock. But right now its pretty zen with just the two girls. I do want another hen. Worried about something happening to one of my two....leaving the other freaked out.

So Feedman....breed me a Narri hen!

Feisty...its been a wacky winter here too. Yesterday we set a record high of 74. Now I'm awaiting inbound storms with associated tornadoes. All of which is supposed to hit during rush hour. I'm working from home till it passes.

My chickens are on strike. They had been laying several eggs a week until a few weeks ago. Now NOTHING! Slackers. Not expecting anything from Annie until she's through this molt, but Daisy .... nothing! They were all laying this time last year. Maybe it has something to do with our strange weather.....its been a weird winter.

And Annie's molt is odd too. She was molting in September when she decided to go broody. Fought with her a few weeks till she gave up sitting on air. Her molt seemed to go into suspended animation until January. Then she went bald at once.

Its been a strange winter on many levels.....

Feisty....thought you saw the fishy post. It was pretty funny!

I hate to say this, but we set a record today....it was 80 degrees. By Thursday the high will only be 40. Weird weather. But my daffodils are blooming!

Ralph, sounds like your pet rooster feels "entitled ". I wish I could take one of your toms. Put a potential lapper in a dog crate & fly him down here. I think you need to become a poult pusher like Aurora. Seems to me several of the folks on the Surviving MN could use a nice lap/hand warmer.....

Mary may be our first broody of the year! Good luck with keeping her off the nest. Persistent may be an understatement!

After many months of close observation, Annie finally figured out how to operate the chickens treadle feeder! She figured out if she stands sideways she can step on it and get her head in there. Boy was she proud of herself. Lots of happy chirps. She even backed away from it then tried it again. Turkeys are to big to operate it like a chicken would....standing on the treadle & eating. The only way she could do it was to stand sideways. I didn't think she'd figure that out.

Feisty...such sweet pics of Big Bird! Love the beard. Annie still has her beard. Although Daisy will tug on it occasionally. The weather has been a roller coaster here too. Its been crazy.

Daisy's head is super fuzzy this year too. Her snood always has little feathers, but what's funny is that the feathers on top of her head are darker than usual & it looks like she's wearing a toupee. Her face is always pretty fuzzy.

Aurora, can't wait to see poult pics!!

Fishy....:gig. Still think this is funny!

No eggs here. Turkeys or chickens. Bunch of slackers.....

One of the gals in the neighborhood stopped by after her walk yesterday evening. She had bright blue tennies on and blue nail polish. Annie was totally gobsmacked ! Poor girl was trying to talk about splitting up with her boyfriend & Annie couldn't help completely inspecting her shoes & nails. So what I thought was going to be a teary conversation ended up with us laughing about Annie.
