Hey Peeps,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place but have been reading about Silkies having a wee trim around their eyes to help with their vision.

Most people seem to use scissors which seem a little scary for me. I'm wondering if anyone has used an electric men's razor (the sideburn part of it, not the actual shaving bit....know what I mean?) to cut the feather successfully. Mine is fairly quiet and seems to cut hair quickly and safely.

FYI, I'm still in chicken/backyard organising stage but I love to research the PANTS off everything prior. I ordered our coop today, should be ready for Bubs in a few weeks. So excitied!!!!

Thoughts? TIA

Also, think you might be able to get more of an even grade so it doesn't look to "blunt". Might even pop a Nike symbol in there if my hand is steady enough....haha....kidding.

I been debating on trimming up my silkie. Does it make a real big difference?

I've only done it once with my polands. I wrapped them in a towel, turned them on their sides and did my best to hold their heads still. They didn't like it, but it worked.

I did it mainly because the polands were having trouble seeing the big chickens properly and weren't able to respond to social cues. They were getting pecked because they couldn't see it coming, in other words.
