Trying Pics 1st Time - BJ and Annie

What a beautiful place you have there! It looks like photos out of Southern Living. What a lovely pair of chickens. They make a darling couple!

Love the photo of the roo looking at the stone chicken.

FLOWERPOT/Kelly, thanks! I will have to read up about Golden Phoenix! I've never seen a photo of any type bird that looks exactly like BJ so always wondered....When he first arrived several years ago he was with another roo that looked much the same except that that roo has a bit more flamboyant color in his tail feathers - purples, greens....They were best buddies.

Cyn, sweetshop Susan, and mtn Mary, thank you all for your very generous assessments!

There are unaesthetic spots on the property - like a neighbor's UGLY garage - just avoided taking photos that included those! My ex-DH, still a friend, came and built the run and coop. The run landscape is very uneven so it varies in height from 6 feet down to a few feet as it goes along - the top is level and covered. It's only 8 x 30 - tried to have it blend in as well as possible as it's a residential neighborhood and I am the only one in town with chickens - trying to keep a low profile! .

Cyn, now there are faces and feathers to go with the names! Annie is my first barred rock - I love to look at her. And wow, is she a spitfire! (as was Betty before her, a light chestnut colored something!). Also like Betty before her, Annie has started studiously "preening" me now..sooooo sweet! When I first adopted her a year ago she hadn't been handled and hated to be touched. She has transformed.

Susan, when I first got stone roo, I wondered whether it might bother BJ - thankfully he gave it that one good stare the day I took the photo and then has ignored it since!

Mary, thank you about the shining

Hi JJ ! Love your pictures, and your chooks are lovely too! You have a really beautiful yard and set up for your chickens.

Keep them cool today it gonna be in the high 90's.

Thank you Luna/Ginny & Adele for your generous assessment!

Ginny, I hear you. Boy that 7 day heat wave was LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! It felt like 7 months trying to keep the lovely couple from getting too overheated. Hope you and yours made out okay too. In no mood for it to be crossing the 90 mark again tomorrow, probably easily 95 with humidity factored in.....So many 90+ days this summer so far... Im not sure who it's taking it's toll on more - BJ and Annie, or me with worrying about and tending to them! .

SC/Brenda, yup, that's me. I didn't relish putting that photo up - I virtually never come out good in photos - but it's reality so I winced and pushed the button! :/However, Annie is looking mighty fine and thanks, it's my fav coffee mug - chicken, sun up, good morning message...

Hope Ernie is coming along nicely and that you are able to get some rest.
