Actually it might. They are extremely wily, and once a member of the family is killed they sometimes move on to a safer area.

That is what I was hoping for, just killing one or two and then having a reputation in the coyuote packs for my place being a bad place to be.

I have a switch below the fence charger and when I'm working around the coops and pens I shut it off. I haven't accidentally touched the wires from the newer charger yet but I know it will hurt.

Thinking back to the electric fence. Was it grounded? Was all the grass trimmed away from it? If you didn’t have a ground wire or keep grass and weeds from touching it, it wouldn’t be effective. The plants cause a “dead short”. It’s like they absorb all of the electricity and it doesn’t go to the fence.

Yeah, we had a lot of problems with plants growing up through the fence.

A weed whacker is your friend if you have electric fence.

Can you trap the coyote?

If the predator is coming onto the property it’s only a matter of time before it gets what its looking for.

Do you have any dogs?

Killing or trapping a coyote shouldn’t mess with the natural cycle of things.

As mentioned, there are people who trap and/or kill coyotes for you. I’m sure you can find a contact info for someone in your area via social media or Google

But you definitely wanna act fast because they won’t leave.
Shooting them down one by one will deter them I think
