Thank you! From reading through all the history on this thread I figured you would be the first to give me some help You have helped a lot of people on here.
I have read through and feel I have a pretty good idea of the rules (which I think may make my realtor crazy haha especially the privacy fence or hedge for bees since I'd RATHER it already be there) though the one about the coop having an easily cleanable floor (don't remember the exact wording)... Is the ground considered an easy-to-clean floor? Or maybe wood chips that I can scoop and replace every so often?

Starting to get excited! I have no idea when I'll be ready but do you still sell Marans? And do you sell yours as chicks or only hatching eggs? Either way is fine as my mom has an incubator I can borrow.

I live in-town Broken Arrow. My coop run is 11ft by 5ft-ish and I have sand as flooring, it works great. My coop is 4ft x 4ft with a linoleum floor with bedding (I use shavings, straw, shredded paper - whatever I have) that I "spot clean" every few days. I have 8 pullets in there and don't experience any smell.

Mattock FYI your worst predators in Tulsa are neighborhood dogs sad to say. I saw someone on the okie thread mentioned you should have a run for when you are not home. That is absolutely the best way to go.

I emailed her this morning asking to send them priority express or wait until the end of this week when it warmed up but she shipped them Priority this morning. The lows tonight here in south coffeyville OK will be 10 degrees. Frustrated is an understatement. Maybe if they spend the night somewhere in the south tonight they will be ok. I've got my fingers crossed. Think they will be ok?

Well I hope so, too for you. My gut tells me though that by Thursday night when it will be in the single digits they will be sitting on a truck somewhere. Hopefully they will still be in Texas at that point but you never know. It is so frustrating when people don't think about weather on the receiving end when they ship eggs and birds... I know I always do!

Thank you again. When I lived on my own with 2.5 acres in C-ville, I had 4 hair sheep in the backyard and dogs got in and maimed 2. Was a really tough experience and now that is always at the front of my mind when I think about backyard livestock. The coop and run will be as safe as I can make them.

For those of you who live IN Tulsa, especially mid-town, how bad are hawks? Are they something I need to worry about much?

Hi there! My name is Linda and we live at 46th and Peoria, with 3 hens- about to be 5 (ordering more next month) We have not had any incidents with hawks, although I have seen them in the area. I think the fact that our backyard is heavily shaded with trees helps to keep them from being able to swoop down. The girls also have three protective guard dogs, so I think that helps Anyway, if you have any other questions about keeping chickens in midtown- just let me know! I am also planning on ordering a batch of gold and silver laced wynadottes and will have extra for sale if you are interested in either of those breeds. Let me know! Welcome to the group!

Hey to you and Welcome. I'm in Collinsville and work inTulsa. We don't mind the commute so much. My mom is in Midtown Tulsa and her biggest predetor is hawks!

The worst things where I live are the fox, raccoons, hawks, wild neighborhood dogs, opossums and coyotes. I live 1 mile from downtown in the pearl district. There are more things to worry about than you will ever know. Use strong hardware cloth and then use welded wire fence over that on your runs.

Wow, I live at 37th and Riverside. I never imagined people close to me would have chickens! Haha
