Tumor or abscess? I think tumor ...

I have no experience with tumors or feather cysts, but it looks like it was a feather cyst from one or more impacted feathers. I have been looking at some videos on YouTube recently of birds with feather cysts being removed, and I am leaning more toward that. But I am not a vet, nor an expert. Hopefully, that is what it is. But they tend to reoccur again.
Yes, I do hope that that is what it is! I will look for thoroughly into feather cysts. I don't have experience with them, either, but it might be better than a cancerous tumor.

Here are a few links to read and watch to help you see if it seems like a feather cyst:

My sound isn't working right now but I watched both videos. Sylvie's feathers never came out easily like the canary's. I plucked them and she certainly felt it. Did the canary's feathers detach from where the cyst is? I will try to fix my sound ...

And when I lanced her lump, I definitely couldn't get anything out like the second video. I've seen a couple videos like that and expected it to be like that, but it just stayed solid and bled a little bit.

You don't need sound...first one is not in English.
The second one all she says is "hold still." ;)

All you can do is to see how she gets along, keeping the wound clean. Plain neosporin ointment twice a day is good. If it should come back quickly, bleed profusely, or you see another lesion, and she dies, I do second the idea of getting a necropsy, especially to look for Mareks or lymphoid leukosis, which cause tumors.

This is the wound this morning. At first I was startled by the black, but I'm thinking maybe it's iodine absorbed from the sugardine? If so, I'm not sure why it's not more uniform as the whole area was packed well. The bottom part of the wound, where it's that pale, pasty brown color, looks super weird to me. She doesn't mind me cleaning it but I think it's a little painful -- if I squeeze the sides of it, she doesn't like it. I've put neosporin on it and left it unwrapped for a couple minutes because she was acting super weird with the wrap on her neck and I wanted to make sure she wasn't having neurological symptoms.

How are things looking today?
So a couple posts above is the picture from this morning. She pecked at it a bit while it was uncovered but she just won't tolerate a wrap on. I initially had sheet cotton and vetrap but even just a little rolled gauze seemed too heavy for her head: I'd finish wrapping and her face just fell to the floor, and then she spent a lot of time running backwards in the crate trying to get it off >< She eventually got one off, so I just stopped wrapping it.

This evening, I went out to spray more Vetericyn on it before bed and ... it's kind of gross. In the pic you can see the bottom part is like this weird pasty brown. Well, this evening a lot of it was like that, but pretty dry, and it kind of looked like I could just pick it off. I picked a little bit but she got antsy so I just sprayed it and left. I remember seeing something similar on a horse who foundered and was essentially sloughing off his feet. This pasty light brown shit came out of his feet before he started growing new keratin, and it SMELLED. But Sylvie doesn't smell much at all yet, so maybe it's just sloughing and not too infected?

She's in very good spirits, eating and drinking and being her spazzy self. Pretty lonely, so maybe tomorrow I'll turn her out with a friend for a little bit.

:fl
Eating and drinking is good news. I've seen a product called MediHoney work magic. Let me see if I can find a link to it for you.
